We ran an agency for three years. The retainer paid for the work. The work happened during the day. The reporting happened at night — typed up on a Thursday, sent at 11pm because the meeting was at 9. We treated it as an unbillable tax, and the math worked until it didn’t.

    The agency

    Three founders. Eighteen retainers. Reporting on Thursday nights, every week, for three years.

    The realization

    The brief wasn’t overhead. It was the product — the only artifact our clients ever read.

    The pivot

    We stopped taking new agency retainers. Wrote a brief renderer for ourselves. Friends asked for it.

    SendBriefs

    Public launch. Built around one rule: if it doesn’t replace a manual step, we don’t ship it.

How we build

Four rules we don’t break.

These are the lines that govern every product decision. They’re short on purpose — short rules are the only kind that survive contact with deadlines.

  • Briefs, not dashboards

    The brief is what the client reads. We optimize for that, not for impressive-looking tile grids.

  • Sourced or it doesn’t ship

    Every stat on this site traces to a real, dated, third-party study. If we can’t cite it, we don’t claim it.

  • Calm by default

    No autoplay, no popups, no growth-hack pressure tactics. The Comfort panel is a hard product commitment.

  • Fewer features, finished

    We ship slowly and finish completely. A half-done feature is worse than a missing one.

We’re a small team. We charge less than what we used to lose to weekend reporting. That math was the whole pitch — and it’s still the whole pitch.
